Does Kabbalah accept those type of things?

Dear Rabbi,

I’m very interested in Kabbalah and I bought myself a book. I’ve read your site and its been very helpful. But, I’m very interested in
herbalism, faery realm and celtic myths. Does Kabbalah accept those type of things? So far, Kabbalah seems very open to other ideas, as if it won’t strike you down for believing in other ideas. I’m just wondering if those are accepted ideas.

Thanks!

Bethany

Dear Bethany,

Thanks so much for your email.

Kabbalah is insights into life.  How to be more spiritual, connected with the Infinite, and your true purpose.

Hopefully those insights will be valuable to anyone with any type of belief system that exists.  It’s not an all or nothing approach, it’s
not an adherence to a set of dogmatic beliefs.  You can be who you are, believe what you believe, and still gain something from whatever ideas in Kabbalah that you find beneficial to you.

If herbalism, faery realm, and celtic myths are things that you have also found meaningful to you, then by all means, keep using them.  If you end up running across something in Kabbalah that contradicts them, then at that point you can choose to delve into both sides of the disagreement and decide which point of view you agree with, but you don’t need to reject the rest.
